Old Testament

Genesis 11:1-12:20: Here we find the power of being one, the power and blessing of unity. They were building the tower of Babel out of self-ambition so they could make a name for themselves. Look at the incredible statement that God made concerning their endeavor in Genesis 11:6. Contrast this verse to Philippians 2:1-4.

There is nothing wrong with ambition as long as it is for the Kingdom of God. These individuals, who were not born again, would be successful in this project but it was not pleasing to God. Because of principles, that were instituted by God, even individuals who are not born again can be successful but out of the will of God.

Just because we see success does not mean that God’s approval is on it unless it is according to His will, purpose, and plan. This also applies to ministries and our own personal ministry.  Read Revelation 3:14-21; Matthew 7:21-23; Matthew 16:24-27.

What is God’s blessing of unity? Psalm 133

Genesis 12: Abraham was blessed to be a blessing!!! God’s blessings are not for consumers but for givers!! Selfishness keeps God at bay; generosity opens the flow of His blessings.

Psalm 4:1-3: Psalm 4:3 is a key to answered prayer!

Proverbs 1:28-33: They call for God’s help out of crisis, not because they love Him or want to serve Him, but for God to serve them. If God helps and delivers them, then they go back to their old ways. God knows our hearts and motives; we can’t fool Him!!!

New Testament

Matthew 5:27-48

Father God, I ask You to help me walk in unity and harmony with Your Word, with others, and in accordance with Your will for my life. Help me to be a generous person in every area of my life and as I give, let the blessings of Your promises overtake me in abundance, so that I may continue to be a blessing. Help me to walk in love even with those who don’t like me so I may bring glory to Your Name!!! In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
