Old Testament
1 Kings 11:1-12:33: 1 Kings 11:1 shows us one of the reasons for Solomon’s downfall; the same is true for us today. No matter how much wisdom you possess or how successful you become, you can still fall if you don’t keep yourself in obedience to God and set boundaries to protect you from temptation. His decisions and actions as a father set the course for his children.
Psalms
Psalm 69:5-15: Do you still have zeal for God’s house? Do you still love to go to church or has it become a weekly duty or chore? If it just a duty or chore, then check your relationship with the Lord.
Proverbs
Proverbs 17:20-22: The joy of the Lord is your strength; a merry heart does good like medicine. It takes more muscles to frown than to laugh.
New Testament
John 12:1-26: Just like Judas, some people don’t like when the offering is taken in church because they only think about themselves instead of being a blessing to others. People who keep the tithe for themselves and don’t give are usually the ones who complain the most and despise offering time. What is your heart like when the offering is taken?
