“The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand. I pant with expectation longing for your commands.” – Psalms 119:130-131 NLT
When we fast, we focus on what God wants us to receive, as well as His expectations from us. Fasting opens us up to many benefits, cultivating and sharpening our spiritual senses to hear God’s response, getting to know Him in a greater way and growing closer to Him with the expectation as to what He wants to reveal and teach us.
In Psalms 119:130-131, God tells us that His “word gives light, and wisdom to the simple.” Many times, we go into a fast unaware of the direction that we must go, because of the flesh and things we go through, but as we read God’s word, and pray, God reveals what He desires us to know as we fast and wait in expectation; He delivers to us His instruction.
Proverbs 4:1-2 says, “My children, listen when your father corrects you. Pay attention and learn good judgement, for I am giving you good advice.” God wants to order our steps, leading us in the way we should go (Proverbs 3:5-6). Fasting does just that, preparing our hearts to receive and hear what the Spirit of God is saying to us.
Let us be expectant!!
